Your Favourite Coffeehouse

It’s the weekend and I’ve got the sniffles. First time in months. My body’s still adjusting to my new work schedule which means I haven’t been sleeping well. My immune system isn’t at its prime. It doesn’t help that P and his yaya caught a virus during summer camp. Guess my lime and coconut habit only works if you sleep. I need this weekend to recover. Translation: stay in and veg. Nice.

P’s out on an extended lunch date and that means I get adult TV time. I grab the remote to channel surf. HBO. What is this? Shark Boy & Lava Girl. What?! I check the other movie channels. Nothing. Travel channel. There’s always something good on the travel channel. Re-runs on Rio. Really?! Food channel. Donuts. I give up. Now what?

Recovery weekend sucks. I’m bored.
Maybe I can check my email. Just check. I don’t need to reply.
I check and answer a few. Just a few.
I check social media. Nothing interesting.
Hmmm… Spotify. Yes, Spotify! Thank you, brain!
Now for my playlist… Your Favorite Coffeehouse.
I love this playlist. Absolutely LOVE  it.
I would check other playlists but I would always... ALWAYS go back to ‘Your Favorite Coffeehouse.’ Why? I’ll tell you why BUT DON’T LAUGH.

If they made a movie of my life, this playlist would definitely be my OST. Yeah, I know. It’s funny and yes… a bit loony. The whole movie idea is just bonkers right but yes, it has crossed my mind. Sue me.

I’m sure you’ve seen ‘500 Days of Summer’ and loved it, right?  And the sound track? Equally awesome! So if someone would make a movie of my life, I would want it to have the same look and feel as 500 Days of Summer and I want my OST to be just as wow. I haven't figured out who would play me and P though. I'll get there someday. Lol.

So what are the songs that will make it to my OST list?
Hmmm… I can’t name all the songs now. That’ll make this post extremely long but I’ll give you a sneak peek.

Cannonball by Damien Rice
It’s my song. It is SO my song.
I almost always feel like crying ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’ when I listen to this song.
Cannonball
Stones taught me to fly / Love taught me to lie / Life taught me to die / So it's not hard to fall / When you float like a cannonball

Naked As We Came by Iron & Wine
Song for my mommy.
Naked As We Came
She says if I leave before you, darling / Don't you waste me in the ground / I lay smiling like our sleeping children / One of us will die inside these arms / Eyes wide open, naked as we came / One will spread our ashes round the yard

Pills by The Perishers
For the dark times. Sigh.
Pills
One may think we're doing fine / But if I had to lay it on the line / We're losing ground every passing day / We're not okay

Tomorrow is Gonna Be Better by Joshua Radin
For all the drama. Double sigh.
Tomorrow Is Gonna Be Better
My song for P. We'll get there, buddy.
I know it's just one of those days / But you just stay strong / I'm gonna find a way to take it all / And make it okay / Tomorrow is gonna be better

Collide by Howie Day
Maybe. Someday. MAYBE.
Collide
Even the best fall down sometimes / Even the wrong words seem to rhyme / Out of the doubt that fills my mind / I somehow find / You and I collide

Beautiful Day by Joshua Radin.
The song for the last scene...
Mommy and P are driving to the beach. Dawn. The coast is in sight. Windows down and the wind is in our hair. We’re quiet. The quiet happy that I really like. I look at P and I smile. He feels my stare.  He looks at me and smiles back. I'm really happy.

I’m gonna wash the dust off my soul / I’m gonna listen to some rock n’ roll / No cares, come what may/ I’m making a beautiful day

I’m gonna drive my car into the sea / Swim out far ‘cause I believe / That the waves will wash the gray away / I’m making a beautiful day / Let me hear you say...

Oh oh / My my / I’m learning to fly / Hey hey / What’s that you say? / Let’s not forget we’re alive

P loves this song. We sing along to it in the car. Helps keep me positive too. Hopeful. Yes, P and I are working on our beautiful day.

Everyone’s Got Something by Perrin Lamb
This is the end credits song.
I know it’s a love song but this is my movie so shush.
Everyone's Got Something
And I want you / I want you to know / All I have is you / All I want is you / All I need is you

I'd add more but it's recovery day. Time to veg.
Sigh.
I take it back.
I love recovery weekends.

Thank you, Gretch. You are my Spotify goddess. I will forever be indebted.
And yes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Houses. I will blog about that soon -- well... the next time I get the sniffles.

As a bonus...listen to The Mess I Made by Parachute -- The Mess I Made
For those 'stay-in-your-peejays-days.'

  1. Gaws why am I clueless about any of these songs? Do you like anything sung by Britney Spears? I can relate if that's the case LOL

    1. Uhm...I do Britney too, dear. I think an appropriate theme song for me would be "Oops, I did it again" for my inability to pick the right men. LOL!

    1. Oh you should listen to Your Favorite Coffeehouse, Dal. Warning though...it's pretty addicting. I seriously think Spotify infused the playlist with caffeine. Don't ask me how though. But I stand by my theory. :)
